Ambriola Recalls Cheese Products Over Listeria Risk

The Ambriola Company has issued a nationwide recall of select cheese products after routine testing detected Listeria monocytogenes at its West Caldwell, New Jersey facility. The recall, announced November 25, 2025 and posted by the FDA the following day, is being conducted out of an abundance of caution. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The affected products include various grated Pecorino Romano cheeses sold under the Ambriola, Locatelli, Member’s Mark, Pinna, and Boar’s Head brand names. These items were distributed to retail stores and distributors across the U.S. between November 3 and November 20, 2025, with specific expiration dates ranging from late February through May 2026.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Consumers who may have eaten the recalled products and experience symptoms such as fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea are advised to contact a healthcare provider.

Customers should not consume the recalled cheeses and should either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Ambriola has suspended production and distribution of the affected products while it reviews sanitation and food safety procedures and works closely with the FDA to investigate the issue.
